It’s an auspicious day (another one) for the Incubator with the launch of The People’s Gallery at the Historic Village. November 25 sees the official launch and opening of the People’s Gallery art space. I was down at the Incubator when they were unpacking some of the exhibits for the exhibition – don’t miss it. And don’t miss the ARTbop – Black Sheep inaugural Affordable Art & Artisan Fair this Sunday 26th November – corner of SH2 and Pummer’s Point Road, Whakamarama. Should be fun! This Saturday marks the official rebirth of the Forrester’s Hall in the Historic Village. The Hall was originally opened by the Tauranga City Mayor 109 years ago and will be re-opened as The Incubator Creative Hub’s new gallery The People’s Gallery – Toi ka rere. Workshop: West African Songs, Drumming & Dance with Koffie Fugal November 25 |

Robert Koffie Fugah is a professional African drumming and dance instructor and performer. He grew up in Ghana where traditional music and dance is part of the daily lives. Koffie under took professional African dance and drumming training in Accra, the capital of Ghana and taught African dance and drumming for about 15 years in schools and to expatriates both in Ghana and abroad. Since making New Zealand his home in August 2013 he has been very busy working locally in Otago and supporting drumming groups and running workshops around New Zealand. The University of Waikato’s Rachael Griffiths-Hughes will present a short lecture on the history of Messiah and will then be joined by Lara Hall, violin and Martin Griffiths, cello and 4 young soloists from the University for a performance of excerpts from that manuscript, which will be on display. ARTbop, Tauranga’s arts news, reviews and events online magazine, and The Black Sheep Bar & Grill have gotten together to create the ‘Affordable Art & Artisan Fair’ which will take place on the last Sunday of every month (excluding December). There will be everything from paintings to clothing, woodwork to jewellery, even books written by local authors, and much more. The Papamoa Christmas Art Fest shall challenge the idea that a good Christmas is one that involves a lot of spending. It will be a visual and musical celebration of all that is good in human relationships. A reminder of the love that Christmas is all about. This time he focused on inspiring, motivating and encouraging everyone to follow their dreams, goals and ambitions in life. Life your Life with Passion is a 5-6 minute long shortfilm and will be released on Tuesday, November 14 on Mark´s Facebook-Page and Youtube-Channel.
