FROCKS & FINGERFOOD WITH DIANE HUME-GREEN

Fashion and personal style are aspects of creativity and design we sometimes take for granted in our busy everyday lives.  With a background of fabric and fashion creativity it’s no wonder Diane Hume-Green regularly attends and comments on fashion events for ARTbop.    This month Diane tells us about a fashion fundraiser:

The Pimms and Pretty fashion show was held at Ingham Sears showroom at Mount Maunganui. The charity fashion show was a fundraiser for the ARRC Wildlife Trust. Liza Schneider from Holistic Vets and director of ARRC thanked Jules Bly and the owners of Bettie Monroe for organizing the show with the money raised going to help the trust rehabilitate wild animals and birds. The parade showcased pretty summer fashions from Mount boutique, Bettie Monroe. Casual and evening wear in beautiful colours and vintage style prints made summer seem a little bit closer. Feminine and wearable. The Pimms drinks were handed out as we arrived with delicious finger food also served. The Pimms recipe was even on a card in the generous goodie bags handed out as we left the venue. Travel and spa packages were quickly snapped up at the auction and the generous sponsors also meant the raffle prizes were amazing. A great event for a great cause.

Reminiscent of  Tauranga Art Gallery’s Rosemary McLeod exhibition With Bold Needle and Thread Diane Hume-Green sets the scene of a vintage inspired and themed neighbourhood event:

GRANRA, the Avenues Residents Association held a High Tea at Wesley Church. Vintage inspired table settings, pretty buntings and finger food set the scene. Some local residents gave a short history talk on their photos of the area they had brought along and stories of living in the Avenues over the years. Much discussion ensued with a lot of laughter and some people also met their neighbours for the first time. Prize draws and quiz questions with great prizes rounded off the afternoon. Helpers showed off their vintage style aprons and many people remembered their mothers or aunts favourite table linen and special aprons.
