Who are you?   Joanne Slagel is my official name. And my regular name.

What is your field of creative endeavour? I’m a singer/songwriter/musician/performer

Where is your studio/where are you based?  Based in Auckland (Silverdale)

What do you want the community to know?  I’ve got a concert on in Tauranga on Thu 3rd October at The Jam Factory. I’ll be playing a bunch of my original songs with a few familiar songs. I use a loop pedal for layering and also the trumpet in some songs.

Where can more information about this be found? https://www.facebook.com/events/392273044626237/

My creative background: I’ve been singing professionally for over 10 years but have only recently decided to pursue music full time. I mainly perform as a solo artist, and have also been involved in various bands, notably Queen City Big Band for several years. I play guitar and trumpet regularly and have also studied bass guitar.

My creative achievements:  I’ve written three Musicals with my husband Marcus Slagel that have all been performed. I also released an EP in 2009.

My future creative plans:  I’m currently recording another EP which I plan to release towards the end of the year.       And

If I could go anywhere it would be to:  the whole world. I’ve been to a few places, but I love to travel and meet people. And go snowboarding while I’m at it.      And

I would love to see/hear:  Live musicals on Broadway

Joanne Slagel: Live at the Jam Factory – 3 October 2019

When: Thursday, 3 October 2019 from 18:30-20:00

Where: The Jam Factory – Historic Village, 17th Ave, Tauranga

Presented by: The Incubator Creative Hub

Singer – songwriter Joanne Slagel weaves together her captivating voice and polished guitar skills to perform catchy melodies you’ll be humming for days. Her writing can fall into various genre categories
but often tends to be inspired by folk or jazz sounds. Utilising a loop pedal gives Joanne flexibility to layer her performance and rumour has it she is occasionally inspired to incorporate the trumpet. (From the Creative Bay of Plenty website)
