BAY OF PLENTY SYMPHONIA
In its next concert series on August 9th and 10th, the Bay of Plenty Symphonia returns to a classical programme under its Musical Director Justus Rozemond. All the pieces to be played are in major keys: Beethoven’s lively 7th Symphony in A major, Wagner’s beautiful lullaby ‘Siegfried Idyll’ in E major, and Castelnuovo-Tedesco’s Concerto for marimba and orchestra in D major. The marimba is a remarkable keyed percussion instrument, with a mellow and deep sound. In this performance the solo part will be played by Yoshiko Tsuruta, who is the only dedicated marimbist in New Zealand, and the winner of a number of prestigious prizes. The Bay of Plenty Symphonia is proud to have the opportunity to accompany Yoshiko in what will be a wonderful visual as well as auditory experience
